Weather

The game runs outdoors. Check the forecast before you set your start time. If it looks miserable, reschedule, your ticket is valid for 90 days from purchase, so you don’t have to play the day you buy.

What to wear

Comfortable shoes you can walk 3–5 kilometres in. A jacket if there’s any chance of rain. Dark trousers or trainers you don’t mind getting a little dirty, some of the story takes you through alleyways and cobbles.

What to bring

• A smartphone with the Unknown Sender app installed (iOS or Android) and signed in with the email you booked with.
• Mobile data enabled for the duration of the session.
• At least 80% battery at the start.
• A portable battery if you have one, the game runs 90–120 minutes.
• Cash or card for a drink or two along the way (not required).
• Water.

Battery & chargers

Your phone will be in constant use for the whole session, screen-on, data on, sending and receiving messages. Even a healthy battery can struggle with that for two hours straight, so please come with it topped up and ideally bring a power bank.

Several bars and venues along the game routes stock rentable self-service power banks, pick one up in one bar, return it to another anywhere in the city. Look for the stand near the till.

If your phone dies mid-game you won’t be refunded, but the game pauses with your progress saved: find somewhere to charge, open the app again, and pick up where you left off within your 90-day window.

Staying safe

The game will never ask you to enter private property, climb anything, cross a road anywhere other than a legal crossing, or approach strangers. If any instruction seems to suggest otherwise, you’ve misread it, message us on WhatsApp and we’ll help.

Cross roads only at proper crossings, obey traffic signals, and don’t use your phone while walking near roads. Stick with your team.

You are playing at your own pace. If anywhere feels unsafe, unwelcoming or you simply want to stop, do, the game will still be there tomorrow.

Your belongings

Keep your phone, wallet and any bags on you at all times. Don’t leave anything unattended in bars, doorways or on benches. Unknown Sender is not responsible for any theft, loss or damage to personal property during the experience.

Age ratings

Every game has its own age rating and content themes, shown on the game’s page before you book. Some are family-friendly and work with younger players alongside an adult. Others are strictly for adults, with themes that aren’t suitable for children. Check the age rating and themes list before you book so you’re picking the right game for your group.

Where a game passes through pubs or bars, anyone under 18 should be accompanied by an adult. You’re welcome to have a drink along the way, you’re not required to. If a member of your team is unable to safely continue for any reason, stop and get them home, the story can wait.
