Weather

The game runs outdoors. Check the forecast before you set your start time. If it looks miserable, reschedule, your ticket is valid for 90 days from purchase, so you don’t have to play the day you buy.

What to wear

Comfortable shoes you can walk 3–5 kilometres in. A jacket if there’s any chance of rain. Dark trousers or trainers you don’t mind getting a little dirty, some of the story takes you through alleyways and cobbles.

What to bring

• A smartphone with the Unknown Sender app installed (iOS or Android) and signed in with the email you booked with.
• Mobile data enabled for the duration of the session.
• At least 80% battery at the start.
• A portable battery if you have one, the game runs 90–120 minutes.
• Cash or card for a drink or two along the way (not required).
• Water.

Staying safe

The game will never ask you to enter private property, climb anything, cross a road anywhere other than a legal crossing, or approach strangers. If any instruction seems to suggest otherwise, you’ve misread it, message us on WhatsApp (details in your booking confirmation) and we’ll help.

Cross roads only at proper crossings, obey traffic signals, and don’t use your phone while walking near roads. Stick with your team.

You are playing at your own pace. If anywhere feels unsafe, unwelcoming or you simply want to stop, do, the game will still be there tomorrow.

Your belongings

Keep your phone, wallet and any bags on you at all times. Don’t leave anything unattended in bars, doorways or on benches. Unknown Sender is not responsible for any theft, loss or damage to personal property during the experience.

Age & drinking

Players must be 18 or over. Some of the game passes through pubs and bars. You are welcome to have a drink; you are not required to. If a member of your team is unable to safely continue for any reason, stop and get them home, the story can wait.

If something goes wrong

In a genuine emergency, always call 999.

For anything game-related, a broken link, a clue that isn’t appearing, a location that’s closed, or you’re just stuck, the quickest way to reach us is WhatsApp. You can send messages, voice notes, screenshots or your location. Details are in your booking confirmation email. Email hello@unknownsender.co.uk works too if you prefer, though replies won’t be as immediate.
